Underwater Mermaid Bedroom
Mermaid Lair for my Mermaid
My eldest daughter had a mermaid room in the last home we lived in but clearly we needed to upgrade it when we moved! Especially since I was going to be redoing the room for a baby in the making, I wanted to be sure she knew she was special and she had her own special things. So, here comes the upgraded mermaid lair.
She took part in picking the items for her room so that it was made just the way she wanted it. I also had her help with the actual revamping of her room when it came to painting and redoing furniture.
I'm going to sound like a broken record BUT we thrifted/ second hand marketplace shopped the majority of the furniture in her room! The dressers were on marketplace for $50, they got a new paint job and handles from the clearance rack at Hobby Lobby. The Bunk bed was a marketplace find (plain wood) that we repainted to look like a mermaid lair. There is real sand glue pressed onto the bottom of it and the shells and sharks teeth and other fossils were ones SHE found herself when out panning! She placed them all on individually. I installed a curtain using metal old fashioned curtain rods and cut curtains to fit.
The fish along the ceiling were tied together with fishing line so that every time the air blows they look like a school of fish swimming across her room. FUNFUNFUN! Her room also glows at night (from the stickers she chose). The jellyfish and bubbles were reused from her birthday party along with the net. Reuse recycle! She's a big fan and very proud of her room and the design!
Below I have posted the items that are seen in the room (that are able to be purchased outright).
